Pastor Craigs Notes and much more
May 4, 2006
PASTOR CRAIG'S NOTES This coming month is a milestone for my family and me. The month of May marks the fifth anniversary of becoming apart of a wonderful church family. Over this time there have been many things happening. Conner, Morgan, Alex, Shane and Mackenzie were just beginning their school careers. Now the older ones are beginning to start JR. High School. I had just graduated from the Lay Training Program. Next year I will graduate from Brite. The Church continues to welcome new friends. Time continues, as it should. The one real connection is that God is there. God is with us as we begin and God is with us as we end. Paul says, *I have run the good race.* He knew that no matter where his life had taken him, be it preaching before thousands or in a dark prison cell, God was with him. No matter where we travel in our finite lives, our infinite God remains a constant source of connection. David said there was nowhere we could go and not find God there. I look with expectancy to the future. For the Church and for us all. Praying for you as I hope that you are praying for me. JUDY GAYLER ~ RETIREMENT RECEPTION Our friend, Judy Gayler will be retiring from active ministry June1, 2006. She has served youth as a Juvenile Probation Officer for Exter County and part of the Child Protective Service for the State of Texas. She attended Bright Seminary and served as Associate Minster at the Disciples church in Rosemont, Texas. Since then she has served as minster of the First Christian Church of Marietta, Oklahoma and the First Christian Church of Brownwood, Texas. Currently Judy is Pastor of the Hurst Christian Church. We know that you join us in wanting to show our appreciation for Judy and her work. There are four ways you can help honor Judy as she moves to retirement. We hope you can take advantage of each of them. First, plan to attend a reception in her honor. It will be Sunday May 21, 2006 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a short program at 3:30 p.m. It will be held at the Hurst Christian Church, 745 Brown Trail, Hurst, TX 76053. IT is located at the intersection of Brown Trail and Pipeline Road just south of Airport Freeway (Highway 183). Second, you can make a cash donation towards a gift for her. Checks should be made out to the Hurst Christian Church, with Judy retirement in the memo field. Mail them to the Judy Gayler Retirement Committee at 1713 Cynthia Lane, Hurst, TX 76054. A third way you can help in this celebration is to send pictures of Judy, so they can be used in a slide show. Please send them to the retirement committee at the address listed previously. We will scan them and return them to you. To facilitate the return of pictures, please put your name and address on the back of the picture. And fourth, please consider writing a letter expressing your personal thoughts and feelings about Judy. These letters will be included in a book of letters, so she can reminisce about the part of her life, you represent. Again, mail them to the retirement committee. In advance, we would like to thank you for helping make this celebration a success. They are used to buy buses and other items for various missions supported by our denomination. SECRET PLACE Christian Education would like to hear from the congregation if they would like to continue The Secret Place subscription. Please let Carol Baird know if you use the Secret Place daily devotional so we can decide to discontinue the order, or adjust the number we order. 2006 PICTORIAL DIRECTORY The Membership / Evangelism Committee has finished the all new 2006 pictorial directory. A copy is in the narthex for people to look at. There is also a sign-up sheet for those who would like to purchase the new directory.
