CONGREGATIONAL MEETING
JULY 9, 2006

The Official Church Board has scheduled a congregational
meeting for Sunday, July 9, immediately following Worship
Service. The Trustees reported to the Board at the June
board meeting and presented several possible suggestions
regarding the unoccupied parsonage. After discussion and
consideration, it was moved that the Board recommend to the
congregation that bids be taken to sell the parsonage and
move it off the property. The congregational meeting is
called for considering this recommendation only. Please
plan to attend and let your voice be heard.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL 2006
JULY 10 - 14
VBS will be July 10th-14th from 5:45 - 8:45 p.m., at First
United Methodist Church. Pre-school through 6th grade will
enjoy "Fiesta", Where Kids are Fired Up About Jesus.
At this time, we still need volunteers for many aspects of
the VBS experience.
If you can help with food, contact Rosa. If you can help
with decorating, contact Carrie or Alice. If you would like
to help in any other capacity, PLEASE contact me. There is
still plenty of time for you to contribute your time and
energy to helping kids learn more about Jesus Christ.

SUMMER CAMP 2006

We were able to send nine children to camp this year.
Morgan Hudson, Mackenzie Hartman and Conner Rutherford
attended Junior camp June 19 - 24. Chris and Jackie
Gonzalez, Kendra Glazner and Bibiana Castaneda will be
attending Chi-Ro Camp June 25 - 30. Shane Hartman and Alex
Hudson will be attending Discovery Camp July 20 - 23. This
was made possible through fund raisers held by our youth,
donations from individual church members like you and the
support of our Outreach Committee.

We would like to thank each of you that donated to our camp
fund, and we would like to give an extra special thanks to
the Local Outreach Committee for their support in making up
the difference in the money we needed. The Outreach
Committee has supported sending our kids to camp for many
years now, and we could not do it with out them.

Thank you - Kids in Christ

MOVIE NIGHT - PART III

The movie nights for May and June were very successful.
There was an average of twenty in attendance at each movie
in a wide variety of ages. The next movies will be held
Friday, July 21 and 28. Come join us for popcorn, sodas and
classic movies at 7:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall at the
church. Bring a comfortable lawn chair and join the fun.

REGIONAL ASSEMBLY 2006
MAKE PLANS EARLY

The 2006 Regional Assembly will be held at Edmond First
Christian Church this year. Now is the time to mark your
calendars. Oklahoma Disciples will gather October 13, 14,
and 15 for workshops, fellowship, and inspiring speakers.
Plan now to attend.

FOURTH OF JULY PARTY
ON THE LAWN

Ro Hartman and family have moved from their home on the
hill. The church has enjoyed several years of July 4th
celebrations with them. This year the 4th of July party
will be held on the church lawn and Ro has offered to host.
The festivities will begin around 7:00. There is a sign up
sheet in the kitchen for those who want to bring something.
We will have games for kids of all ages. Plan to join us
for good food and a great time of fellowship. For more
information contact Ro or Craig.

TIPS FOR BEATING THE HEAT
July in Oklahoma means on thing ... HOT! Here are some
tips for preventing heat-related illness from the Centers
for Disease Control.

Drink more fluids, regardless of your activity level. Do
not wait until you are thirsty to drink.
Don't drink fluids that contain caffeine, alcohol, or large
amounts of sugar - these cause your body to lose more
fluid.
Stay indoors.
Wear lightweight, light colored, loose fitting clothes.
Never leave anyone (human or animal) in a closed, parked
vehicle
Limit outdoor activity to morning and evening hours.
Protect yourself from sun by wearing a wide brimmed hat and
sunglasses and by putting on sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher.

GETTING YOUR DOLLARS WORTH

What will a dollar buy today? With a ONE DOLLAR BILL you
can buy two Marietta Monitors, 2.56 first class postage
stamps, one lottery ticket, 0.37 gallons of gas, or 0.0044
shares of Microsoft. It doesn't seem like a dollar goes as
far today as it did yesterday.

There is one way to get more out of your ONE DOLLAR BILLS.
Each ONE DOLLAR BILL you put in the offering plate Sunday
morning goes to the Local Outreach Committee. This
committee, chaired by Yvone McGinnis, uses your ONE DOLLAR
BILLS to do great things for our church and our community.

Each month we send money to Big Five to pay for the
shipping costs to get their food supply from the regional
food bank in Oklahoma City. That money allows them to have
food in their office for those in need. The Outreach
Committee also uses the ONE DOLLAR BILLS to help
individuals in need. Last Christmas the committee
"adopted" a child and made her holiday season a little
brighter. They have also given school supplies to the
schools to keep on hand and give to children that may not
have them.

Most recently the Outreach Committee helped send our youth
to camp. The Kids in Christ Youth Group was able to raise
money toward camp, they received donations and
scholarships, and the Outreach Committee made up the rest.
Your ONE DOLLAR BILLS helped send nine kids to camp to make
memories that will last their entire life.

The next time you think that a dollar will not buy
anything, remember just how much it will buy. The ONE
DOLLAR BILLS you put in the offering can impact the lives
of those in our church, and our community, people you know
and some you will never meet.

P.S. - If you do not have any ONE DOLLAR BILLS you can
designate on your check Outreach, and the money will go
into their fund.
